Article 1 - Tempered glass
Heating the glass sheet to a temperature of approx. 700 degrees Celsius, then rapidly cool it with cold air - get the glass. As a result, the microstructure of the glass is changed, with the result that the mechanical strength is 5-7 times higher than the ordinary glass. Creates a regular network in the form of crystals of silica domains interrupted by small amorphous phase. Glass after quenching can not be subjected to mechanical treatment (cutting, grinding, drilling), except for sandblasting. Any treatment should be carried out before hardening. An additional effect of tempering is to get through the glass of safety features. Tempered glass has a high hardness on the outside and that is soft in the middle. So that the stresses that occur in the glass structure over time cause the disintegration of the pane shattering into small pieces.
